Question #1:
would you read a book like this? and what would you call this?
i know, i know, everyone says this, but i am entering a novel competition, so please help.As i galloped through the rustic looking field, barefoot, I look in the distance to see something unusual.
The wind began to pick up violently, pushing my carmel colored hair into my face. As I squinted my eyes, hard, to figure out what the object was the debris started flying
I ran toward the object and lifted it above my head, not knowing what I was doing, i threw the strange thing hard to the ground. I continued to run through the never ending field, singing in my high pitched tone.
Once I reached the rustic ending of the field I heard a loud screeching noise and i turned swiftly around. Soon to my knowledge, I saw the thing levitating . The wind continued to be fierce, but soon got ferocious with rage, debris flying everywhere, nearly knocking me to the sunken ground. I saw my house just beyond the tree line, and I began to sprint as fast as my legs would allow me too.
I caught my breath at the big oak tree that I used to play around as a little girl. Once I managed to breathe normally again, a large, hefty branch came crashing down, almost crushing my petite body.
What is going on, I thought as the wind continued to blow my, now crazy, hair. I continued to run when I tripped over something. I fell hard onto the muddy ground, and continued falling, it felt like a never ending plunge. I soon realized that I had stumbled across a sink hole.
All I could see was black, all I could hear was loud, noisy screaming.
"AHHHH," I yelled as I woke up on a bus, heading back from a soccer game.
The whole bus just turned and laughed at me. It was the second most embarrassing thing that could have ever happened to me.
"Amber, you need to start having happy dreams," My best friend, Caramia, teased lightly punching me on the arm.
I threw my head under my hands, embarrassed. The bus halted to a quick stop.
"Who just screamed?" Mrs. Perry, the bus driver yelled.
I didn't want anyone to get into any trouble, so, I owned up
"That was me, im sorry, it wont happen again. I just had a scare," I sank down into my seat
The bus diver grimaced and went to heat the bus up again.
"Amber, what's wrong lately? You keep waking up screaming,"
"Well, there is something wrong," I looked outside the window of the bus.
Caramia raised her eyebrow indicating that I needed to tell her.
"My parent's are getting a divorce and I might have to move with my dad, Pittsburgh," I kept decreasing the sound of my voice so that the last few words, barely vocalizing the last bit.
Please rate it, even if you hate it, i still have a lot to write, so please critique it(: thank you(:

Experienced wood-carver for 3 Goddess figurines of Hecate, Gaia & Aphrodite?
Slight fine detailing work may be required. General size will vary based on individual figurine but approximately and not higher than between 6 to 9 inches in height. Possible interest in the artist using Oak and staining with a brownish-cherry red color. Desire fusion stylizing between tribal-rustic & Greco-Roman. I will want to be involved in detailing to the artist the general desired look of each figurine. Price will be negotiated as a flat-rate for all 3 figurines upon an indicated interest in the project. I am on SSI however, and working part-time, so I cannot afford to spend a fortune. This is going to be for my Wiccan alter.Thank You & Blessed Be,

Question #8:
Bedroom decorating help?
I just moved into a new house. I bought a new bed ( Click Here ) on pottery barn and I have a antique/rustic looking white corner cabinet in the room too. I'm looking for a dresser (no wider than about 47 inches and short enough to reach the top fairly easily) and a small bedside table that would look good with that bed and corner cabinet. I don't really want to have everything white...I was thinking like a rustic/weathered pine or oak for the dresser, but I'm not sure...And if anyone wants to help me find a comforter/quilt that would look good on the bed (w/ greyish blue walls and possibly dark purple pillows) that would be great!!
Thanks so much!
Question #9:
What interior paint color would go with this green?
I'm trying to find an interior wall color to match the trim color... I faux painted trim in a weathered look of avocado green. It's a green like the color inside of an avacado not the skin. I was thinking on painting the wall a very light powder blue with this trim. My floors are a warm oak, furniture is lodge dark wood ... brown leathers & rustic. And in snow country so would blue seem too cold? The windows have this same green window ceils but nothing around the sides or top of the windows but wall. Can't afford to add wainscot trimming around the windows. The curtains are chocolate velvet with dark wood rods. My issue with finding color... the window glass has white plastic framing that can't be painted and I don't want it to stand out if I paint the wall around them too dark. Ahh what to do? Would love color ideas or any suggestions! Thanks!!Question #10:
Where I can buy a bent wood rocking chair made by Einn Fisher?
I have one already that I love so much I would like another one. It is made out of bent branches that have no bark and oak like slatts for a seat and back. Very rustic but comfortable to sit in.Question #11:
What can I treat a green oak log fence with to give it a few more years of life before rotting?
I am building this fence along my drive for my wife's birthday. Whew, tons of work. Cutting the trees down as i go and notching the wood. I am not using any nails to fasten it because i want it to be as rustic as possible. I would just like it to be around for more than a couple of years since i have put so much time and effort into building it. Any suggestions? ThanksQuestion #12:
Is my vintage Johnson-Carper rustic/cottage style dresser worth BIG BUCKS?
I found this dresser for a few dollars at a re-use center... but I think it is possibly a rare and valuable piece. I could very well be wrong, but I figured before I restored it or sold it, I would ask the yahoo community! The dresser has 3 drawers on either side of a center door that covers 3 more basic drawers. Everything except for the bronze hinges on the center door and the bronze knobs on this piece is oak or maple wood. Even the frame of this dresser is made of some type of solid pine or oak. Every corner of every drawer is milled to fit exactly, without nails or glue.
The drawers are hand carved, the knobs are beautiful (continue reading), and the piece is just solid as a rock. Without the drawers, it probably weights between 200 and 300 pounds. It is made by Johnson-Carper, apparently this company no longer exists?
The middle section consists of 3 basic pull-out wood drawers and is covered by a single, side opening, oak paneled door, spanning from top to bottom. The paneling on the center door is made up of 5 panels, the middle 3 are each 3 1/4" wide and the 2 outermost panels are 1 1/4" wide. The top, bottom, center door, and 6 side drawers are all beautifully framed and exquisitely trimmed.
The two wider sets of 3 drawers on either side of the center door, are hand carved and almost resemble the french coat of arms spanning twice outwards in each direction from the center of the drawers.
On all 6 drawers as well as the center door, are circular bronze knobs with a braided edge. At the base of the knob on the center door, is a bronze circle with a curly-cued type of floral looking edge.
The top of this piece is a solid piece of (laminated???) oak with a slight beveled edge. The dresser top is joined to the dresser by an elegantly understated piece of trim. The trim on the bottom of this dresser is quite unique; a solid square then curved upwards into a thin but ornate strip of what resembles a mayan tribal design which is then curved upward again to a slight level, approximately an inch below the bottom of the side drawers and center door.
The same ornate tribal strip is reflected in the inner framing of the center door. The outer framing of the center door, like the outer framing on the drawers, is an elegant, multilayer-ed, outwardly inclining trim which declines in the same layered fashion about a 1/2 inch from the outer edge.
All of the side drawers as well as the center drawers (covered by the center door) are cornered/butted together like pieces to a puzzle. I know this is a sign of quality craftsmanship because the cedar drawers in my $3,000 dresser from restoration hardware are made the same way. The 6 hand carved side drawers might even be cedar, but I am not certain because the scent has probably been gone for decades now.
The dresser is 6' wide, 20" deep, and 30 1/4" high. The 2 sets of 3 hand carved drawers on either side are 24 3/4 " wide and about 7" deep. The 3 center drawers are each 14" wide and 7 1/2" deep and are covered by the single center door. The center door is 16 1/2" wide and 22 1/2" high.
I am inclined to think that this piece is at least 40 years old because of the shiny (today considered tacky) finish on the top of the dresser, a finish that when this piece was made, I know was used on premium furniture.
When was this piece made?
Was it part of a collection?
How much is it worth?
Are there people who collect pieces like this?
Am I wasting my time, or did I find an incredibly rare and valuable piece?
Question #13:
What kind of wood is best for floors?
I want to cover an old hardwood floor with new wood. It is a traditional Mediterranean house and the old floor creaks amd is full of gaps. What is the best kind of wood to cover the old floor while keeping the rustic character of the house? Is oak appropriate or can we choose something cheaper?Question #14:
Should I go with a light natural or dark color stain for my hardwood floors?
I am having hardwood floors installed in my living room and hallways. I have the old 1970's wood paneling all around the living room starting from mid wall to floor. The color of the paneling is almost a coffee brown or reddish mahogany color. One wall in the living room is all brick which is where the fireplace is located. The brick wall has mixed colors like dark red, brown and sandy reddish brown colors. I also have neutral or light earth toned colored porcelain tile in the front door entryway. I am trying to decide what color stain I should go with on my solid hardwood floors. Should I go with a more natural or reddish coffee brown mahogany color stain to match the wood paneling. The type of wood and texture I'm going with is Red Oak #2 hand scraped. I am looking to do a antique rustic or distressed look. I don't want my living room looking like a den or cave. HELP!!!! I need some advice!!!Question #15:
Laying Down New Wood Unfinished Flooring, Do I Have to Sand First?
I want to purchase wood flooring, that's unfinished oak. Do I have to sand the floors before adding the finish? The reason is because I like the rustic look and don't really need the floor planks to be level with one another. However in the future, I may want to sand the floors, stain and finish them for a nicer look. These are wide planks that I will be face nailing. What do you guys think? Thanks!!
Question #16:
Anyone have advice on choosing wall color to compliment floor and room?
Is there a website or a store or phone number where I can get free advise on choosing wall colors? If not how do I find a good designer in my area to suggest colors? I am fixing up my house for sale and am looking to repaint my house so it looks its best and compliments the various room sizes and flooring. For example, my open kitchen/dining/living room has light oak flooring in the living and dining area, white marble in the entry area, light pinkish ceramic tiles in the kitchen area, white cabinets, black counter tops and appliances, and lots of windows and sliding doors and is vaulted with exposed wood beams. Our style is rustic traditional and this is a middle class neighborhood. We were thinking a light grey? We want it to be neutral.Question #17:

Tips for Decorating a Wedding?
I'm having an outdoor wedding on my Uncle's ranch in Texas near San Marcos in late April to Early May. My colors will be bluebonnet blue and white with a hint of red. My wedding site has very large oak trees around it and a river on one side, however it is mostly hidden by trees. My reception is taking place in a civil war-era mansion that has a large hallway running all the way through the first floor of the house from front door to back door. Both the front and back doors are french doors that lead out onto covered patio/porches. The hallway ends at a large stone floored and walled living room which has the french doors in it and has it's left hand wall covered in shelving. There is a fireplace on the other wall. I'm thinking about doing a sunset wedding... or a little sooner, to capture the beautiful Texas sunsets, therefore the reception will be at night and I'm probably going to use candles for a lot of the lighting. Any ideas on how to decorate this reception and wedding rustic but elegant? I'm looking for unique and tried and true ideas... I wish I had pictures but do your best with what I described :).Question #20:
Is Wallpaper or Paint better for the interior of a '91 5th wheel camper?
I have an outdated look in my 5th wheel and we are wanting to update it a little. Im running into a problem that I cant find any facts on. We are wanting to do this for a good price. I am at the dilemma of using textured wall paper or paint. I just have a few issues I'm concerned with. With textured wall paper in a camper, there are so many cabinets and windows in such a tight space, Im afraid it will end up looking tacky because im not a pro wall paper tech. But i love the textured look and think it will look nicer. As for paint, My walls are currently an outdated trailer house looking flower wallpaper, (driving me crazy), and its smooth which i don't care to much for. I know I need to primer first but my concern is where the slide outs go in and out, at the bottom the existing wallpaper is warp with the possibility of the actual walls being warped. How will I overcome this w/out it looking tacky and with having to replace the walls? My husband and I are hunters and we are going w/ a Mossy Oak hunting/outdoor rustic theme. I could really use any tips, tricks, hints, websites and forums to help me out. I would like to have it done by April. Thank you for all your help!
