Question #1:
How do I install and properly bury downspout drains?
I'm looking to install a new downspout drain running from the back of my house and letting out to air in a ravine beyond my usable back yard. I've done some research online and it seem that the information varies a lot. I live in Iowa right about where the Mississippi River runs east/west to give you an idea on climate. I plan on installing a 4" solid PVC pipe for this drain mainly because I have a lot of oak trees and debris and I figure the solid pipe will be the least likely to clog and the easiest to flush out. My question is, what is the proper way to buy this pipe? I was told the run a trench below the frost line, this I can understand. But how do I bury this pipe? Somebody was advising that I should dig a 12" wide trench below the frost line and basically encase the pipe in about 10" of gravel all the way around wrapped in fabric? Does that make sense for a solid pipe, or would that only be necessary for perforated pipe. Please somebody with professional experience chime in. Seems there are a lot of DIYers that have all used different methods...no way to know which is right. Help!! Thank you.Question #2:
Speaker Building Dementions?
I have a pair of Athena AB B1 5.5" 2 way speakers, the boxes got wet and well that's that. I'm looking to use the drivers in a new enclosure, No I won't be using MDF considering these run in conjunction with a subwoofer, I'm going to use a solid Oak floor standing enclosure and add a passive radiator into the mix. The passive radiator will allow lower frequancy's and dump standing waves inside the enclosure. My question is to all you audio-files out there, with a 5.5" mid bass driver, will a 10 inch drone be to big, and what would the dimentions need to be. Can i put the mid bass in the front and have the drone fire out the side? I hope to get alot of responces regarding this.P.S. I understand the sonic benifits of MDF, I want solid oak cabinets, so anything you say regarding the differance in sound do to knots/woodgrain and warpage, forget it, I have made my mind up. Solid FG Oak is the material, besides it was free:P
Question #3:
Do you like my story?
The leaves crunched and crackled under my sneakers as I took the shortcut through the woods home. The air smelled of crisp burning leave with that eerie smell of halloween. I could feel the hot burning sensation of tears as they stung my eyes. you are so stupid, you should have known. I couldn’t even find comfort in my own mind anymore. Quickly I wiped the tears from my face, and calmed down before pushing the oak door to the house open. “Hi mom”, I uttered as I walked in the house. She replied with the usual “Hello” and walked out the door to work. Once I was alone I collapsed on my bed. The tears poured out of my face like a fountain. After about a solid hour of crying I forced myself up. My legs and neck felt stiff as my feet hit the cold tile. I staggered my way into the bathroom, the head pounding, hangover sensation after a good cry setting in. I splashed my dull skin with cold water and looked up into the mirror. My eyes were red and puffy from crying and my nose was bruised and swollen. I am like a mirror, with a broken future and shattered past. , I thought. It was clear to me now, that I had only two choices, To end it right now or to tell someone. The first choice seemed like the easy way, the escape route. So I chose my second option.THANKS(:
i wrote the story about myself. anddd the thoughts were in ITALICS but they didnt show up, sorry.
Question #4:
How to brighten up apartment bedroom?
I've lived by myself for a little over a year now, and ...now that I've decided my move is a little bit more permanent than I'd originally expected it to be, I'd like to spruce up my bedroom! It's VERY dull!Unfortunately, the room has a DARK GREY carpet throughout, as well as dark brown doors and closet doors (which make the room even DARKER).
It's a really big bedroom, and I can't paint the walls - so they are just plain jane white. My comforter is reversible (striped on one side, one colour on the other). I feel like my comforter is a little on the childish side, now that I'm a bit older - so I'd like the room to tone that down while still accenting the colours from it (I currently can't afford to buy another bed set). I looked for a picture to show everyone here, but, I can;t find it! The colours on one side are orange, yellow, pink, red and a magenta-fuschia type, and the solid side is magenta-fuschia colour. The sheets are white with all those coloured stripes (thin stripes), as are the pillows, and the shams are thick stripes (like the reverse of the comforter). Sometimes I alternate to red sheets! My other pillows are the same colour as the solid side of the comforter
Curtains are black (because...it helps to keep the light out the most, the sun rises on my side of the apartment building).
I have an oak desk, headboard, dresser and nightstand. I also have a tall, thin white shelf (like a bookshelf, but very narrow).
If anybody has any suggestions that would spice of this very dull, very boring room....please hit me with them, I'd greatly appreciate it.

BENCH
Bench Toby Gerhart, Min RB @NO Thu 8:30 Gerhart, the Heisman runner-up, is a big, physical player who's faster than you think, and is actually a decent stylistic match with starter Adrian Peterson. Of course, AP is bigger, faster and more physical, meaning the Vikings probably won't be tempted to remove him when they get near an opponent's goal line. And Gerhart isn't much of a receiver, so he won't play a ton on third downs. His primary fantasy value in 2010 is as Peterson's unquestioned handcuff.

Bench Falcons D/ST, Atl D/ST @Pit Sun 1:00 The Falcons' defensive scheme is a relatively vanilla 4-3 which occasionally looks like a Cover 2, and, as such, needs the defensive ends to generate pressure for things to work well. John Abraham was invisible for large stretches of 2009, perhaps because the Falcons haven't been able to find a bookend for him. As a result, Atlanta tied for 26th in sacks, and the secondary was exposed. Signing Dunta Robinson should help, but maybe not enough, because we don't love the options at the other corner spot. Jonathan Babineaux, though, has turned into one of the league's most complete defensive tackles, and rookie Sean Weatherspoon should bolster an already solid linebacker corps. But it'll mostly come down to edge pressure once more, and you have to ask yourself how much you trust the Jamaal Andersons and Kroy Biermanns of the world.
Mon, Jun 7 93
Bench Quan Cosby, Cin WR @NE Sun 1:00 0
Bench Jared Cook, Ten TE Oak Sun 1:00 Alge Crumpler is gone from Nashville, so Cook ascends to the No. 2 spot behind Bo Scaife. A big athlete who runs a mid 4.4s 40, Cook missed time because of an ankle injury in 2009 and reportedly annoyed offensive coordinator Mike Heimerdinger with a less-than-spectacular work ethic and knowledge of his assignments. Had Scaife left as a free agent, we'd potentially be excited about Cook. As it is, he does have upside, but he's likely to sit for most of another season.
Mon, Jun 7 36
Bench Bills D/ST, Buf D/ST Mia Sun 1:00 The Bills will switch from a 4-3 to a 3-4, and there will be hiccups. Marcus Stroud was one of the NFL's most disappointing defensive linemen in 2009, and maybe a transition to a pure end role will help, but Kyle Williams really isn't a nose man, so rookie Torell Troup may need to play a lot. Next come the outside linebackers; at the time this was being written, the Bills didn't know whether Aaron Schobel was retiring, and Chris Kelsay is bigger and slower than you want a 3-4 pass-rusher to be. And if you've seen '09 No. 11 overall pick Aaron Maybin, please let us know. The inside linebackers are strong (Paul Posluszny is experienced in a 3-4; Andra Davis was a great run-stopper for the Broncos last year), and the secondary was underrated in '09. But there are a lot of moving parts, and not all of them seem to fit.
Mon, Jun 7 93
Bench John Kasay, Car K @NYG Sun 1:00 Old Man Kasay has been in the league since 1991, but his formerly big leg has failed him recently. He has scored 100 points or fewer in three of the past four seasons, and it doesn't seem to matter if the Panthers' run-first attack is up ('08) or down ('09). His performance seems destined for mediocrity.
Mon, Jun 7 97
Bench LenDale White*, Den RB O @Jac Sun 1:00 In 2009, White burned owners who thought he'd repeat his 15 touchdowns from '08. Chris Johnson went crazy, and White talked his way out of Tennessee. He was shortly reunited with Pete Carroll, his college coach, but he was cut in the spring. Whether or not the fact that White has dropped from as high as 265 pounds to 228 was a factor, we do not know, but right now he is without a gig. It's hard to imagine he won't latch on with someone at some point and could still be a goal-line threat on most teams that would consider signing him.

btw im in a 20 team league
Question #7:
what is natural wood flooring?
Surely all wood is natural?I have looked at lots of solid wood flooring types and most of them are labelled after the tree name - oak, walnut, ash etc, but some are called just "natural wood" (no oak, ash or whatever). I've heard of an "oak tree" but not of a "natural tree"!
Any ideas?!?
Thanks
Question #8:
Brown Spider Identification?
I live in Houston, TX. Recently, I have found A LOT of dead brown spiders and their egg sacs in my home. There are two different spiders. I have no idea what they are, I need help identifying them so I can decide on the best pest control plan!Spider #1
A little smaller than a dime
Solid brown with a distinctive cephalothorax and abdomen (I cannot see any distinguishing marks)
Two black/dark brown chelicera's or palps (?). They look like boxing gloves
Legs are slightly lighter in color, when you shine a light on them they almost appear red.
The entire body is see-thru when you shine a light on it
Spider #2
Quarter dollar size
Solid brown with a distinctive cephalothorax and abdomen
One dark brown vertical stripe on it's abdomen (from top to bottom).
There have only been two of these; one under my kitchen trash can and the other crawling across my living room, both seen at night. Although, I have seen others outside trying to crawl in my open patio door (kitchen light attracting them?)
They run very fast when seen.
Egg Sacs
Off white
There are usually quite a few of them, but they're in separate mounds, not clustered.
ONLY found on wood; oak cabinets, oak china hutch, wood filing cabinet, oak dresser.
I have not seen any spiders (that I can see with the naked eye) that have a "violin" pattern, just a stripe. They're not hairy, like a wolf spider. And I didn't think hobo spiders were this far south?
Can anyone help me?
Question #9:
NEARLY (Or just about) Story?
It was a long journey, for the 3 wise men, as they followed the evening star across the land. Finally after many miles, they came to the manger where Mary and Joseph had the baby. The manger was built of solid oak, with low beams across the doorway. Two of the men were short and stocky, and entered the dark stable without any trouble, but the third man was very tall and thin. As he entered the gloom, he smacked his head on a very stout oak beam. "Jesus Christ!" he said. And Mary said, "What a lovely name!, we were going to call him Fred."Question #10:
Question about interior design/curtain colors?
My dining room is a bright golden yellow. there is darker oak trim with a china hutch the same color as the trim, and a light oak dining room table. Here is an EXAMPLE of the color the dining room is: (The color of my paint is the color of the curtains in this picture)
I'm out of ideas as far as curtains. My boyfriend wants to keep it as simple as possible (I'm "limited" to solid colors or strips, he says). Any suggestions? Pictures/links are appreciated!!
Question #11:
I want to know the best way to restore my oak dinning table surface and the trim around it.?
I recently purchased a formal oak dinning table and the surface is not a laminate and is solid oak and smooth as a mirror but has a few gouges in it.The trim around it has some sort of a wood like material glued on to the actual wood used as the trim around the table and has chips in it. The leaf on the table seems to be a laminate and has a little bubble that is sticking up where it joins to the rest of the table. Is there any way to fix these problems?Question #12:
Antique Chinese Solid Wood Room Divider?
I have a 6 panel solid wood (oak, rose?) antique looking chinese wall/screen room divider. I was wondering if anybody knew of a website where I could figure out its value. I am falling on rough times and need to sell it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!!Question #13:
About how much should I expect to pay for a custom built fireplace surround and mantel?
About 8 feet wide, curio shelves on the side. Curved base, mantle. The hood would go all the way up to the ceiling (9 ft), with crown molding at the top, and pillars and corbels holding up the mantel. All made from oak plywood and solid oak, with a tiled marble base. This is new construction, and I already have the gas insert.
Just looking for a generic "about this much" figure, before I start looking around.
Question #14:
Help, We just put solid oak floor in our living room 2 months ago.?
We just put solid oak floor in our living room 2 months ago.?I just noticed yesterday it has some noticeable bumps. and I am worried as I paid a lot for a builder to install these. What are the reasons? How can we sort this out? Is it going to be back as normal as the builder suggests, is that because a heavy sofa on it. please advise...
It is hardwoord flooring, I paid a fortune for it! Do you think it would be re-setted?
Question #15:
Is modern feminism is just a modernised version of chivalry?
With feminists as the privileged women making the rules to benefit women at the expense of menThe police and manginas playing the role of the white knights defending a ladies honour
Child support to make sure that men dont behave like "bounders"
Sexual harassment laws to ensure that men behave like gentlemen
Prison and fines for men who dont follow the codes instead them of being socially ostracised
Affirmative Action as ladies first
Of course doors and chairs are no longer made out of solid oak so we are no longer asked to move them for ladies.
Are there any other similarities?
Question #16:
Which 2 SP should I own for my fantasy team?
Which 2 of these 3 SPs should I own for my fantasy team?Trevor Cahill, OAK
Ted Lilly, CHC
Max Scherzer, DET
Cahill and Scherzer have been fantastic of late and Lilly has struggled, but Lilly has always been solid throughout his career while the other 2 guys are unproven, especially Scherzer. I like Scherzer for his strikeout potential, but I fear he may blow up again at any point. Which 2 should I own?
Here are my other 5 SPs that I currently own:
Jon Lester, BOS
Clayton Kershaw, LAD
Phil Hughes, NYY
Jaime Garcia, STL
Clay Buchholz, BOS
Question #17:
how to fix solid oak flooring?
Is it possible to fix a solid oak floor(to existing timber floorboards) by screwing it, rather than nailing? I'd like the option to take it up without trashing it to be able to access the plumbing and electrics that are under the existing floor. Thanks?Question #18:
What cool color can I use to balance out all the warm yellows and golds in my bedroom?
I'm trying to stage my bedroom without spending a fortune. My walls were a fairly pale balanced (neither too warm nor too cool yellow) and I bought a pretty intense golden sheet set for my bed and gold curtains online... the curtains were supposed to be more like ivory with a little gold in the print, but what I got was a deep old gold and they darken the room a bit more than I'd like. I'm on a time crunch and can't send them back now... they're up and they look fine. The floor is oak hardwood, more golden color, lol. Also between the curtains and the sheets and my deep gold lampshade I've got a lot of feminine pattern going on in the room. So, I need to buy a bedspread today and it needs to be fairly solid in color without a lot of pattern. I was thinking of getting something in ivory that has a sheen to it because the room looks pretty formal so a plain cotton one wouldn't look right. But I'd rather add another cool color to the room, like a pale aqua or something... trouble is I can't envision it. I need to go light or pale because the curtains, floor and oak trim in the room are really darkening it.
The green suggestion is actually kind of funny because originally I painted the walls that color in the first place to go with a quilt my Grandma made me. It is deep green, white and golden. But now the quilt looks shabby in the room with all the rich textures, and the pattern is too busy, lol.
Question #19:
What color walls go well with whitewashed/pickled oak woodwork? Taupes are not good with...?
...this type of woodwork.I am having a hard time picking out paint that will go with my whitewashed/pickled solid oak woodwork, which is throughout my home. I would love to use a taupe color but it does nothing with the pickled woodwork. I do not want to paint the woodwork since my kitchen cabinets are also oak and pickled.
Question #20:
OKAAY, IS MY KISSING SCENE ALRITE NOW? PLEASE READ AND RATE!?
i edited it because some people thought it was great but other people thought i needed to edited more and stuff like that... im only 14 so no rude or mean comments, if you don't like it then please tell me in a nice way, thanks (:It's copy righted so no one can steal my ideas!
By the way, Justin, who is being kissed, is a vampire (No It's not like Twilight, just because twilight is about vampires doesn't mean that everything that has to do with vampires it about twilight) so the twilight haters out there, i have never read the book nor watched the movie!
anyways He is being kissed by my main character, she isn't shore about kissing him or not because she found out that her recent boyfriend liked her best friend (her boyfriend and her best friend where all best friends before, they knew each other since kindy) anyways that's why she's not sure!
my story is about, 3 teenagers all of them best friends, they have a band called the shrubs, they practice all the time at marissa' house (the main character) whose dad went missing some time ago, he said he was a key maker until her mum went to his work and found out he never worked there, anyways he planted this tree in the backyard which turned out to be a massive willow tree, he said it was the 'Tree to magic" or whatever anyways, one day her 2 best friends came over for band practice and it was snowing so they decided to play outside, marissa was mucking around throwing snowballs and stuff, when she spotted a key, a rusted old key that was left there in the snow, slowly rusting away, she thought it would be funny to place it in the oak tree, because of what her father said, but it was a HUGE miss take! or was it? that's when there adventure begins! millions of miles way under ground, with creatures you thought ever excited! she realized her father was emperor there and he died by going to war now there's this bad evil Villon who is taking over the world by dark shadows and she has to defeat him with her two best friends!
anyways this is chapter 13, just thought i tell you my whole story because you wouldn't understand it if i just told you a chapter! enjoy! btw, its not like that, my story is better hahha anyways Enjoy!
He looked down at me again but this time for longer looking deeply into my eyes, and I did the same thing. His fingers traced the contours of my lips, leaving a cold tingly trail. It felt like ice hitting hot water, the chemistry between us cracked and steamed. I lifted my eyes to meet his. They were an ocean blue, staring back at me, anxious. He leaned in, and our lips met.
Cold and dry, his kiss struck me like lighting. My body froze. I barely moved - I just went with the flow as he was leading. He carefully kissed my cheek, then slowly made his way down to my neck. He looked up at me, surprised that I was letting him go so far with me. He understood, then, what I wanted.
“Are you sure you're ready for this?” he asked, tilting his head away slightly. His eyes looked pained to have to asked this - he was obviously sure about what he was doing, and he wanted me to be sure, too. Gentlemen that he was, though, he made sure to get my wholehearted permission.
“I'm ready,” I assured him, placing my hands on each side of his frozen face. I leaned in again and placed my lips onto his. I felt his ice cold hands move down my hips and across my backside. His frozen lips slid down to my chest, our body drew closer, pressing against each other. He stopped kissing me and lifted me up, I wrapped my legs around his waist. He pressed his lips onto my ear, sending shivers down my spine. He felt like ice against my skin. Justin stopped smooching me, he lifted his head up, his eyes wondered around, like if someone or something was out there, and he knew it. I stared at him, confused by his sudden hault. “What's wrong?”
He placed me carfully on the solid ground. “Shh” He said cupping his hand over my mouth. I looked up at the sky. There was nothing there. “Justin, what are you looking at
Is that better or still need more editing. (btw its only a draft, i dont care about spelling and grammer misktakes im ging to go over it and rewrite that chapter!)
thank you!
